Classic Hearts unblocked: play Classic Hearts online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.

Classic Hearts is a browser edition of the timeless four-player trick-taking card game. Sitting down for a hand offers a calm, strategic break from high-speed reaction games like Drift Boss. Instead of steering through tight corners, you are managing a thirteen-card hand, tracking cards that have left the table, and trying to keep your score as close to zero as possible.

The objective in Classic Hearts is straightforward: avoid collecting penalty points across multiple rounds of play. Every card in the Heart suit is worth one penalty point, while the dreaded Queen of Spades adds thirteen penalty points to whoever takes her trick. A match typically continues until one player crosses one hundred points, at which point the player holding the lowest total score claims victory.

How to play

Each round begins with a full 52-card deck dealt evenly among four players, giving everyone thirteen cards. In standard rounds, you start by choosing three cards to pass to an opponent before any tricks begin. The player holding the Two of Clubs leads the first trick, and every other player must follow suit if they hold a card of that suit.

If you have no cards matching the led suit, you can sluff off any card from your hand, making it the perfect chance to dump dangerous high hearts or the Queen of Spades. However, penalty cards cannot be played on the very first trick of a hand. The highest card in the led suit wins the trick and leads the following round. Hearts cannot be led until someone has broken hearts by discarding one on a previous trick or has no other suits remaining.

Tactics and shooting the moon

Playing defensively is usually the safest path to victory in Classic Hearts. A few practical strategies will protect your score:

  • Pass away high cards in dangerous suits during the opening pass, especially high spades like the Ace or King if you lack enough lower spades to cover them.
  • Void a side suit early so you have an immediate escape route to discard heavy cards when an opponent leads that suit.
  • Keep count of spades played so you know exactly when the Queen of Spades has landed or if an opponent is running out of safe leads.
  • Watch for players attempting to shoot the moon. If an ambitious player manages to collect all thirteen hearts and the Queen of Spades in a single round, they earn zero points while dumping 26 penalty points onto every rival. If you see one player hoovering up every point card, deliberately sacrifice a low trick to stop their sweep.

Questions about Classic Hearts

Is Classic Hearts unblocked at school?

Classic Hearts runs in an ordinary browser tab from driftboss.us.com, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

What is the goal of Classic Hearts?

The goal is to finish the game with the lowest score. You earn penalty points by winning tricks containing hearts (one point each) or the Queen of Spades (thirteen points).

What does shooting the moon mean in Hearts?

Shooting the moon happens when one player wins all thirteen hearts and the Queen of Spades in a single hand. Instead of getting 26 penalty points, that player receives zero points while every opponent receives 26 points.

How do the controls work on phone and desktop?

You can click on desktop or tap on mobile to select cards during the passing phase and play cards during trick turns. The game runs directly in any modern browser without extra downloads.

Can you lead with a Heart on the first trick?

No. The player holding the Two of Clubs must lead the opening trick, and hearts cannot be led until hearts are broken on a discard in a later trick.
